According to reports the 43-year-old trick driver identified as Marco Costa plead not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court May 13th in Pasadena.
Costa will appear at a the scheduled hearing to hear when a date will be set for a preliminary hearing for the two felony charges pending against him after the La Canada big rig crash.
Costa is currently free on a $200,000 bail according to a court clerk and investigators are stating that Costa disregarded the posted weight limits posted on the Angeles Crest Highway.
Since the big rig accident when Costa’s car hauler lost its breaks on the 210 Freeway striking a vehicle in which Angel Jorge Posca age 58 and his daughter 12 year old Angelina Posca were killed. The big rig then struck four other vehicles, ran thought a bookstore and then into a salon pinning a man. Three people were critically injured during the collision with the car hauler.
Caltrans has since closed the Angeles Crest Highway to all five-axle trucks for ninety days. This comes after complaints by city officials in the La Canada Flintridge area.
According to attorney Mark Werskman, Costa is devastated over the crash and had taken the route because his GPS system told him it was the fastest route.
