According to reports by Los Angeles big rig truck accident attorneys, and accident that occurred on the I-5 Freeway involving a big rig in the Camp Pendleton vicinity caused a SigAlert to be issued.
The accident that involved a big rig occurred at approximately 5:10 a.m. in the vicinity of San Clemente State Beach when the truck struck an SUV that had been involved in an accident. The collision caused the big rig to rollover several times with its load that was reportedly approximately 60,000 pounds of food.
At the time of the collision both the SUV and the big rig caught on fire according to authorities and was approximately 10 miles south of the state beach.
Other motorists were detoured through Camp Pendleton according to California Highway Patrol spokes person Officer Denise Quesada, traffic was detoured to Las Pulgas Road exit and detoured back on to I-5 Freeway by signs until after the 3:00 p.m. SigAlert ending.
The driver of the big rig was airlifted to the hospital, the extent of his injuries have not been released. The driver of the SUV was uninjured. Crews dismantled the damaged to the big rig in order to tow it from the scene of the accident.
Traffic in the south bound lanes in Orange County were backed up to Camino Las Ramblas in San Juan Capistrano as a result of the accident.
