San Francisco Bridge Scene of Deadly Tractor Trailer Accident

November 9, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a deadly accident occurred on the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

The accident occurred when a tractor trailer truck failed negotiating an S-curve on the westbound side of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Trent Cross. The big rig was hauling produce and the accident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol Sgt. Cross the driver of the big rig was killed on impact after plummeting over 200 feet. The name of the driver has not been released pending notification of their next of kin.

The S-curve on the bridge according to Stg. Cross has been an area where there have been as many as 42 crashes since it opened September 8th, and the speed limit has been lowered from 5 miles per hour to 40. There have also been flashing lights put in place to warn drivers of the danger of the sudden curve on the roadway.

Boy Struck By Pickup In Newport Beach Accident in Serious Condition

October 30, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a 12 year old boy that was struck by a pickup reported to be in serious condition.

According to Newport Beach Lt. Rob Morton a 12 year old boy was seriously injured on Friday at approximately 7:15 a.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck in Newport Beach in the vicinity of MacArthur Boulevard near Ford Road. The pickup truck is described as a red Dodge that was traveling south on MacArthur when the boy stepped out into traffic.

The driver was not injured in the accident and Lt. Morton stated that the boy was transported to Mission Hospital. He also stated that the 12 year old was alert and talking, but is listed in serious condition.

Big Rig Jackknifes On I-15 Closes Lanes

October 15, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by big rig truck accident lawyers San Diego, a SigAlert was issued, after a tractor trailer jackknifed in the southbound lanes of I-15. According to the California Highway Patrol a tractor trailer jackknifed on Interstate 15 southbound, in the vicinity of San Diego’s Stockton area.

The truck accident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. and closed all of the southbound lanes until after 10:00 a.m. The incident happened in the area just north of Market Street.

The jackknifed big rig caused traffic to slow as far as University Avenue and according to the California Highway Patrol and have stated that the truck and trailed weighted approximately 40,000 pounds. The San Diego Fire Rescue dispatcher stated that there were no injuries in the incident.

UPDATE on Hit And Run Truck Crash Kills 64 Year Old Woman

According to the California Highway Patrol Culver City office a man that has been identified as Willie Ray Shavers Jr., age 40 walked in to the office and stated he had been involved in the crash that took the life of a 64 year old woman from Lawndale.

The California Highway Patrol has stated that Shavers was the driver of the Chevy Tahoe and was register in his name and they were currently searching for him, when he turned himself in to the Culver City office.

According to the authorities Shavers was taken to an area hospital for treatment for the injuries he sustained during the high speed crash and the flames when the Tahoe caught on fire after the crash. They have also stated that after treatment Shaver will be placed in jail and will be charged with felony hit and run and vehicular homicide with negligence. Culver City truck accident lawyers will be wanting this case.

Hit And Run Crash Kills 64 Year Old Woman

August 10, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports police are searching for a driver and two other men that were involved in a fatal hit and run crash. The accident occurred in the Athens area on the corner of South Normandie Avenue and West 106th Street according to authorities at approximately 8:00 p.m.

According to witnesses two vehicles were racing when the crash occurred, investigators reported that a Chevy Tahoe was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on Normandie Street. The driver of the Tahoe lost control of the SUV crashing into a 1996 Saturn and then burst into flames. According to witnesses, they assisted the driver of the Tahoe out of the burning vehicle and the female driver of the Saturn was fatally injured in the crash.

Witness Roneisha Pool stated that she heard a loud boom, boom and the truck was spinning out and on fire, witnesses at the scene pulled the male driver out, helping him to the curb and the bottoms of his pants were on fire. Witnesses stated that a short time later two other men in the other vehicle that was racing arrived and carried the injured driver away, prior to authorities and emergency crews arriving.
The woman that was killed in the crash has only been identified as a 64 year old woman from Lawndale; her name is not being released pending notification of her next of kin.

The driver of the Tahoe that was speeding and caused the crash has been described as a black male in his 30’s and is believed to have burns to his lower extremities. Los Angeles truck accident lawyers will be wanting to seek justice in this case.

Truck Ban Permanent On Angeles Crest Highway

August 6, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by truck accident lawyers, the temporary ban on trucks using the Angeles Crest Highway after the big rig accident that took the lives of Angel Posca and his twelve year old daughter Angelina on April 1st.

The bill to permanently ban big rigs on the Angeles Crest Highway, Assembly Bill 1361 was signed into law today by Governor Arnold schwartzenegger. This makes it illegal for any commercial vehicle that has more than three axles or that weight more than 10,000 pounds to travel on the Angeles Crest Highway.

The bill that was signed bans trucks on the highway and for failure to comply with the new law there is a $1,000 fine. The La Canada Mayor Laura Olhasso stated that this is a great accomplishment and that the goal of keeping the community safe has been achieved.

The temporary ban that was put into effect after the big rig crash that took the lives of Angel Posca and his daughter Angelina was set to expire.

Man Fatally Injured After Crashing Truck


August 4, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) A truck crash near the Pleasant Hill Bart Station fatally injured a 60 year old man.

According to the California Highway Patrol Officer Tom Maguire, the accident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. in the vicinity of Jones Road traveling toward Treat Boulevard, when the 1997 Chevrolet 1500 pickup he was driving swerved. The pickup truck then crashed through a construction fence striking a pile of wooden pallets.

The man that was fatally injured according to the California Highway Patrol officer was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was unconscious, with his foot pressing the gas pedal when the authorities and emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash.

The 60 year old man was transported to John Muir Medical Center where he later died, it has been reported that the injuries sustained in the truck accident might not have been fatal, and that his death was most likely caused by another reason. Truck accident attorneys will be watching this story closely.
